BR1 shoes
Let me say that I am a beginner rower; never rowed in college but have been rowing an erg and on the water for ~3 years. Prior to rowing I was a competitive cyclist (road/mtn/cross) and, amongst others, used BONT shoes when riding. When I started rowing I was exposed to Vespoli, NIKE and H2row shoes- all of which felt stiff and tight, not to mention too big or small, depending on who rowed my seat before I got there (did I mention cold and wet as well?). After acquiring a single I got serious about my shoes (after all, they ARE the connection to the boat). The shoes that came with my shell were very stiff; I had tight heel cords and needed more flex in my foot at the catch. After doing some research I discovered BONT. I remembered them from cycling as some very forgiving shoe, stiff but also very comfortable (wide), so I gave them a try. Wow, what a shoe! This shoe was extremely comfortable (gracious forefoot) and provided the mobility/flexibility for my tight heel cords. And the BOA dial really customized the fit. I couldn't be happier. These shoes are light and flexible and with the available heel lifts I was able to create the perfect catch position. And unlike some of the other shoes I tried, they dried quickly after a wash. AND, when coupled with the QRS system I was able to to take them in/out of my boat effortlessly and take them home and attach to my erg (how? ask your BONT rep. Kathleen was the best, and she gets it, so give her a shout!) Thanks BONT!
